Compliances

Prosper Electronics is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest compliance standards in the electronics industry, including and not limited to RoHS, REACH, Halogen Free, Conflict Minerals, and PFAS regulations. Below, you will find details on the compliance standards we closely monitor and uphold whenever applicable.

ROHS

The RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) collectively refers to the European Union delegated directive (EU) 2015/863 (RoHS 3) amending Annex II to the directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS II) to prohibit
certain substances in the production and processing of electrical and electronic equipment and components, as well as the respective transposition into national law. The aim is to reduce hazardous substances in newly produced electrical and electronic equipment in Europe. All products of Prosper Electronics are subject to
strictest controls for RoHS compliance.

Reach

REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of CHemicals. It is the binding regulation on chemicals No. 1907/2006 of the European Union, which entered into force on June 1, 2007. As an EU Regulation REACH is equally and directly valid in all member states.
All products of Prosper Electronics are of course REACH compliant.

HALOGEN FREE

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) defines halogen free based upon the content level of chlorine and bromine as defined by industry specifications IEC61249-2-21. Halogens are a group of six chemical elements: Fluorine, Bromine and Chlorine, Iodine, Astatine and Ununseptium.

Prosper Electronics offers a wide range of components that are halogen-free and fulfill the requirements from IEC 61249-2-21:

1. (Br) Less than 900ppm ; (Cl) Less than 900ppm
2. (Br)+(Cl) Less than 1500ppm

Conflict Minerals

Prosper Electronics recognizes the risks connected to the sourcing of certain minerals in conflict regions and high-risk areas, and the associated human rights violations, conflict and environmental degradation which result from the trade with these minerals. Therefore, Prosper Electronics is committed to not source materials containing conflict minerals which directly or indirectly finance, or benefit armed groups or security forces in conflict regions and high-risk areas, such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and adjoining countries. Prosper Electronics commits to promote responsible sourcing of minerals, including conflict minerals, and condemns all human rights abuses related to the extraction, transport, or trade of conflict minerals.

PFAS

PFAS (perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances – formerly also abbreviated to PFC) stands for a group of several thousand individual chemicals. They are characterized by the fact that they are very stable and water, dirt and grease repellent. The risks arising from the manufacture of PFAS are currently not adequately controlled. In the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, the European Commission has therefore announced a comprehensive package of measures to address the use of PFAS and the resulting contamination. The restriction of the entire group of PFAS in the EU chemicals regulation REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) is part of this package of measures. I.e. after adoption this restriction catalog will fall under the REACH regulation.

Prosper Electronics is currently working actively in order to identify if any PFAS are present in its products, and from there finding alternatives.

TSCA COMPLIANCE

Under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) evaluates potential risks from new and existing chemicals and nds ways to prevent or reduce pollution before it gets into the environment. Its so called “Chemical Substance Inventory” or “TSCA Inventory” or simply “the Inventory,” plays a central role in the regulation of most industrial chemicals in the United States. Chemical Substance Inventory contains all existing chemical substances manufactured, processed, or imported in the United States that do not qualify for an exemption or exclusion under TSCA. A TSCA certificate is a self-declaration document to show customs that all chemical substances imported into the United States either comply with the Toxic Substance Control Act (TCSA) at the time of import (positive certification) or not subject to TSCA requirements (negative certification). Customs can refuse entry of any shipment that does not have a TSCA certification.

Prosper Electronics products comply with all applicable regulations or orders under TSCA.

UL

UL stands for Underwriter Laboratories, a third-party certification company that’s been around for over a century. UL was founded in 1894 in Chicago. They certify products with the aim to make the world a safer place for both workers and consumers. Besides testing, they set industry standards to follow when innovating new products.

Prosper Electronics offers a wide range of UL Approved and Approvable components.
